Optica Technical Director for Lasers Dr. Helena Diez-y-Riega was curious to see what was new at the stand of Optica Corporate Member Analog Modules, Inc. Based near Orlando in Florida, AMI designs and manufactures a wide range of analog electronic products for the laser and electro-optics industries. At last week’s Laser World of Photonics AMI was showcasing two new products in front of our cameras. Bruce Soileau walks us through both of them.
1. An incredibly versatile controller for a flashlamp laser. Ideal for prototyping or laboratory use. It has a touch-screen interface, a 2 kW driver and AMI provides details of the GUI if you want to drive it with your own system.
2. Their new high-value Model 7552 commercial laser rangefinder receiver and range counter. The commercial version without a license can go up to 3 km. The military version can go up 15 km and beyond, by using different firmware.
Most of the products AMI builds are custom OEM electronics for production. They are often modified to meet the requirements of a specific end use. AMI’s custom OEM products are currently used by photonics manufacturers in military, medical, industrial and research applications.
Their rest of the product range include laser diode drivers, Pockels cell drivers, laser power supplies, capacitor charging power supplies, CW arc lamp power supplies, pulsed flashlamp drivers, simmer supplies, laser rangefinder receivers, laser spot trackers, photodetector-amplifier modules, HV bias supplies, fiber optic links, fast peak pulse stretchers, transimpedance amplifiers, voltage amplifiers and logarithmic amplifiers. AMI is a very active Optica corporate member.
