NEW MODEL 788 OEM CW & Pulsed Laser Diode Driver

Model 788 OEM Diode Driver

AMI’s Model 788 Compact OEM CW and Pulsed Laser Diode Driver incorporates a boost converter, capacitor bank, and a current regulated buck converter to provide a smooth, programmable current to a laser emitter diode load. Various protections are built in including 48 V soft start, voltage monitoring, temperature monitoring and hysteretic shut down, 48 V and 5 V brown-out protection, start/restart delay, and a shorted load until actively released. The PCB is mounted on an aluminum plate that acts to spread and sink heat. Because of the exceptionally high efficiency, cooling arrangements required are minimal. The output current is 1 to 30 Amps programmable at various duty cycles. Current rise and fall times are <5 µS with low ripple. Load compliance is 0 to 80 Volts. Contact AMI today to discuss your application requirements.

Redesigned Models 314B and 714B

Transimpedance Amplifier

AMI’s transimpedance amplifiers and photodetector-amplifier modules can be found in most photonics laboratories around the world. Our amplifiers have unmatched signal-to-noise performance and some have been in production for over 30 years. The time has come to update this design using modern surface mount components and compliance with Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS II). The Models 312B and 712B have recently been through this process and are available now.  The prototyping stage for the Models 314B and 714B is complete. They will be ready for release to production soon offering DC to 500 MHz bandwidth, 6.5 pA/√Hz noise performance with up to 10 kV/A gain.

New Model 7551-04 Rangefinder Receiver with Range Processor

Model 7551 The Model 7551 Laser Rangefinder Receiver/Range Processor assembly comprises a high performance InGaAs receiver (PIN or APD) with compact support electronics to provide corrected range data to a host system. The serial range data output is calibrated using AMI’s patented technology to mitigate the effects of range errors from various sources including walk due to return signal amplitude variations. Exceptional sensitivity allows the use of low power lasers, or alternatively, long range operation. The module provides high voltage bias, time programmed gain, first, last or strongest pulse selection, range gating as well as a number of user-controlled options via the serial interface. The compact layout allows positioning at the optics for minimum overall system size.

Non-ITAR Controlled Miniaturized Laser Rangefinder Receiver
with Range Processor

AMI Model 7552AThe Model 7552A Laser Rangefinder Receiver/Range Processor assembly comprises a high performance InGaAs receiver (PIN or APD) with compact support electronics to provide corrected range data to a host system. The serial range data output is calibrated using AMI’s patented technology to mitigate the effects of range errors from various sources including walk due to return signal amplitude variations. Exceptional sensitivity allows the use of low power lasers and operation up to 2.99 km. The module provides high voltage bias, time programmed gain, first, last or strongest pulse selection, range gating and other user-controlled options via the serial interface. The compact layout allows positioning at the optics for minimum overall system size.

High Power, High Current CW and Pulsed Laser Diode Driver

Model 779AAMI’s Model 7702A OEM laser diode driver is ideal for driving high power laser diode stacks. Proprietary technology allows AMI to offer a 750 A, 180 V driver with industry leading output current stability and small footprint. A pulse generator with adjustable amplitude, width, PRF and current limiting is included. The 7702A provides negative current for grounded anode emitters using a closed-loop current source. Contact AMI today to discuss your application’s requirements.

Redesigned Variable Pulse Width Flashlamp Controller

AMI Model 8808VAMI’s Model 8800 series of flashlamp and laser diode controllers has been a fixture in laser laboratories around the world for more than 25 years.  They were preceded for a decade by the rotary switch and dial controlled Models 883 and 884.

For over 35 years laser designers, researchers and OEM manufacturers have relied on AMI’s expertise in PFN design to achieve the laser output needed for their applications.

The new Model 8808 design will offer more programming options and greater flexibility for laser design, development and operation in the field.  The new design will feature a touch screen front panel interface as well as a user friendly GUI for external control.
